Must... Keep... Blogging...

I really have to keep at this, I did really well before, not sure why I stopped. I need to keep a record of what we get up to from a home-ed point of view as well as it being somewhere to keep our pictures in context. You'll find no pretentious, self-important, up-my-own-arse twaddle-crap that I've read on some blogs lately. I won't pretend to be a domestic goddess/ crafting genius/ mother-extraordinaire, because I don't think she actually exists!
Ok, so enough! What have we done this week? Sunday - bought and fitted a new stairgate so that Winnie can't get into the kitchen to eat the cat food - it contains egg and makes her puke! Ask me how I know.....
Monday saw us go find a playground we'd not been to before - only had a slide in working order, so probably wouldn't go back. In the afternoon, we went to babysit for Harri and Rachael as Vaughan had impaled himself on a soup bowl and needed to go to A&E for xrays and stitches.
Yesterday was fairly quiet as we all have a bit of a cold. Tilda read me her library books and did an hour of Reading Eggs.

Today we have done more Reading Eggs, been for a charity shop trawl - I needed a new jumper/cardigan type thing. Its refreshing to actually be able to buy second hand clothes for me - managed to do up a pair of size 16 jeans today! Tilda had a conversation with one of the shop ladies about the film 'Matilda'. We shared a portion of chips for lunch and bought the ingredients for tonight's pizza.
Since it is Wednesday, here's a pic of my nearly finished scarf, claimed by Tilda. I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow.
On the way home we collected yet more conkers and some leaves which Tilda incorporated into some artwork.
Last but not least, we have Mildred. I don't think I've introduced her yet? This is her in June,
and today she looks like this!
The poor thing is recovering from being neutered yesterday. I love how her skin is tortie too! Since some numpty at the pet insurance company spelled her name wrong, she has actually been known mostly as Mudred which seems to suit her fairly well!

Happy Half-Birthday to Winnie!

Winnie is 6 monthe old today! Where the heck did that time go? She's celebrated by having a skin reaction to something, poor pickle. She's sleeping off the piriton now. We've discovered how much fun newspaper can be! Here's a pic of her having manouvred herself off of my lap onto the floor. She doesn't realise that she has to hold on, but is ever so pleased with herself!

The Great Dinner Debacle!

So yesterday Tilda was reading the Nigella book (looking at pictures of cakes), as you do and she came across this recipe
so I thought, what-the-hey, lets make it! So we did.
Didn't it look pretty?

It did until it fell apart!
Oh, and it tasted awful too! I had a ham sandwich.
Winnie, it seems is also allergic to strawberries if her reaction to some jam is anything to go by. poo.

Mothering Sunday

Today started too early for my liking, with Winnie the first to waken. Here she is learning her IT skills on kneebouncers.com.
Pretty much a normal Sunday here, but I got a lovely pink sparkly card from the girls, and this week I've already received a new camera and a big bundle of wool, so I'm very lucky! In the supermarket this morning Tilda insisted upon buying me flowers, so I have a lovely bunch of fresias - which smell absolutely beautiful!
After lunch we went for a spot of geocaching. The first we went to,GC2P877 was too tiny and we didn't find it, despite looking for half an hour, so we went to another close by, GC2ANY5, was nice and easy and Tilda swapped a magnet for a whistle!
When we got home, I managed a most impressive (for me) ruck and set about tidying the kitchen cupboards. Everything over a year out  of date is for the bin, all of the allergicky stuff will have its own space, to be renamed the shelf of death! Here are the before and during shots - still not finished yet though.

Cake, seeds, glue and lost phones.

Friday morning was a bit of a rush to get ready to go to the post office - finally finished the Mother's Day cards and bookmarks - all laminated and ribbons tied on. Had to make envelopes to send the blimmin things in though.

After much queuing in the Post Office, then the Charity shop (buying wool and a policeman's helmet), then the bakers - all three were full of old people - ack - we collected my (huge) parcel of wool from the sorting office. I am going to make one of these
Realta blanket
and so far have done one hexagon.
We had a friday afternoon cake-club-ELEPhant activity at Tabi's house - glue, seeds, coloured salt, glitter and blueberries.

Katherine got through four outfits, Jess and possibly Tilda flooded the downstairs loo, Tilda got a lamp dropped on her head, much mess was made, wraps were exchanged, and we all had a lovely time!
Upon leaving though, I somehow managed to lose my iphone. Am gutted. Steve is going to see if it is in Home Bargains, but I don't hold out much hope. Pah!
Oh and I've just finished an Easter Egg from Moo Free
which actually wasn't half bad - well done Devena for finding it!

Katherine's Birthday Party

Just got back from the Nut Hut where we had a lovely time at Katherine's party - three hours of running around like a looney - Tilda is now knackered and so am I even though I only watched!
Devena and Christina made a very good egg/dairy/soya free chocolate cake - went down very well!

We had a quick stop off at Asda to check out this week's geocache. (GC20N4E) pretty easy to find. Just a little one this time with only a film cannister and log - Tilda was most upset at the lack of swaps!

Oh Happy Day!

I've found dairy and soya free stock cubes!!!
For anyone not in the know, Winnie is allergic to dairy, egg, beef, soya to an extent and cats. As I am breastfeeding her and everything goes through my milk, I have had to cut these from my diet. Nightmare! Its pretty impossible to buy food without some combination of the above, so I am eating LOTS of fruit and salads - sesame, avocado, hummous, seeds etc. Baking our own bread every few days. Having a smoothie for breakfast most days, with chlorella (algae). Cutting out chocolate, crisps etc is having a positive effect on my waistline however and my jeans are a size smaller than the ones I had on a month ago, so it's good in that respect!
