New Shoes!

On trying Tilda's summer sandals from last year, we decided that since her toes were hanging over the edge, perhaps her feet had grown? We took her to the Little Shoe Company
in Beeston. She chose a very colourful ensemble , complete with purple sparkly tutu, and we came back with the *most* beautiful red shoes. I'd rather like a matching pair!

A Right Royal Affair

Today was the day of the wedding of Prince William to Catherine Middleton. I got a wee bit excited, but it seems I was the only one in this house! Tilda spent the day dressed as a cat, Winnie started out in a posh frock, but it didn't last long. She slept all the way through the service then woke up with a new tooth!

Later on I got a Little Tikes horse on wheels for Winnie for £7.50 and a bottle of glitter paint for 20p in Asda. Bargains!

This is me dressed up as a daisy in the fancy dress competition at our street party for Charles & Di's wedding in '81!

I made a functional, but really unnatractive ipod holder for Tilda as the sound of it being dragged along the floor proved too much for me! Tilda chose the button.

We also heard the terribly sad news that one of Nyree's kittens, Lily, passed away in the night, so rest in peace, sweet little Water Lily.

Lumps and Bumps

Today we went to the 'Lumps and Bumps' clinic at the hospital to see about my post c-section stomach. I have an organised haematoma and lots of adhesions, hopefully they should settle down in a couple of years and they've to leave well alone! Phew!
The new treatment centre at the hospital is very spiffy although being directed to your 'Gateway' seems a wee bit pretentious! We came home later and made some festive fairycakes for tomorrow.

Pics from a different point of view.

Tilda let loose with a camera!

And here is some bunting that Tilda has created for the Royal Wedding - she's really rather ecited! Cupcakes tomorrow!

Work In Progress (WIP) Wednesday!

This week, alongside the realta blanket, I'm also working on a Cassandra Shawl
using some Violet Green 4ply Merino.I've just completed the first of three sections.
This pic shows the pattern best;

and the colour is more accurate here;

Also, here are some more pics from the weekend.
My rolls which were ever so pretty but not entirely cooked

Pics from the barbecue on Monday

And here is Tilda on her way to the cinema with her ear-defenders. She lasted about 30 seconds before the noise became too much for her - she's going to try again when she's ten!

Really rather excited!

I've been and gone and ordered a Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon
I figure it will be good for lugging the kids to and from the park/ friends houses, since after a hard day's playing, the 'I'm tired' whinging gets a bit much!
Can't wait for it to arrive!

A Jolly Holiday

Well, what a lovely weekend it's been!
On Friday, we had cake club with Nyree, Maddie, Sarah and got to meet the very lovely Mel (smilersmurf). It was sunny, warm, the kids played in the sand, we ate cake, untangled wool and had a gossip. It took two days to clean up the sand / beach though!

On saturday we did not a lot, Sunday was a day of baking bread and easter egg hunts. Not all the bread was successful, but it looked pretty!

Today we went to Tabi, Chris & Rowan's for a barbecue. It was a beautiful day - fabulous company and good food - a really great day! Pics to follow tomorrow.

Happy Half-Birthday to Winnie!

Winnie is 6 monthe old today! Where the heck did that time go? She's celebrated by having a skin reaction to something, poor pickle. She's sleeping off the piriton now. We've discovered how much fun newspaper can be! Here's a pic of her having manouvred herself off of my lap onto the floor. She doesn't realise that she has to hold on, but is ever so pleased with herself!

Kittens!

Steve woke up(!) yesterday with an incredible amount of pain in his eye. It seems that some of the gas bubble had got into the anterior part of his eye where it shouldn't be. Where the pressure is normally 10-20mmHg, his was 70! No wonder it hurt! They relieved the pressure by sticking a syringe in it. Yuck. No driving for 8 weeks now, so the Big Camp is a no-no and calls the wedding into question - Steve and Tilda will have to cadge a lift with Steve's dad and Winnie and I will stay at home.
Yesterday we went to see Nyree and the kids and we had a really nice, relaxing day - I came home in the sunshine all warm and happy!
We met our new kitten and her mummy, Thistle. I think the kitten will be called Mildred!

More balls!

Well, the same troublesome one anyway! Yesterday after a trip to the supermarket, Steve noticed his vision getting worse and by teatime, 75% of the retina had detatched - luckily the gas bubble from Thursday was holding it on around the optic nerve. Today he had a vitrectomy - removal of all the fluid in his eye so they could get a really good look, then stick it back together. My poor, poor Stevie is off to bed to lie facedown. I've rigged up a box type contraption to help him, but he's in for a miserable night I think.
When he was at the hospital yesterday the Girls and I walked up to Dockholm Lock and back again in the glorious evening sunshine. We saw a swan, mink, rabbits, ducks, peacock butterflies and two squirrels!

Today we met up with Nyree, Harrison, Rachael and Vaughan for a trip to the park.
